  A historic church of Cedar Rapids. First established in Cedar Rapids in 1879.
  First Congregational Church of Cedar Rapids tends to honor its roots as a historically progressive denomination within the Christian religion. The New England Colonial Revival style of the sanctuary honors this denomination's early roots on the American continent, as well as its belief in order. Overall, the Church and its facilities are well cared for despite the uses offered to the local Elementary school and The Boys and Girls clubs. This church has made a commitment to remain in a neighborhood that has seen its challenges, and seems to be thriving because of it.
  
  The service is normally a classical christian service with hymns, a sermon, an offering and a choral number. But they occasionally change it up with a strictly musical service varying from Classical offerings, to Jazz bands or Folk singers. The Moeller Pipe Organ is prominent for all to see and adds greatly to the service. The church also has an Adult Choir, a Children's Choir, and a quite large Bell Choir.
  
  The ministerial staff is small, but receives good support from the congregants.
  Attendance at the weekly service is probably between 100 and 150.
  
  Overall, a fine Church that asks little and provides a lot.

  This is a church that really is living what Jesus meant for the church to be.
  Worship is inviting and interesting without being gimmicky. The hospitality is genuine. The things they do in the community are truly making a difference in a changing neighborhood. My family and I no longer live where we can attend but we surely wish we could. Moving away from First was truly a difficult thing to do.
